Alexander von Humboldt - man of the moment (or should be)

A new biography of one of the most interesting scientists of the late eighteenth-early nineteenth centuries – when we know so LITTLE about the earth, our history and the way in which the cosmos works.

Despite that, Humboldt manged to figure out that everything is connected. His originality was astounding, but there was a good reason for that.  He never went to school. Neither did he earn a university degree. Nor did he ever take any interest in politics. These ought to be important lessons for the left-hemisphereist multiple-choicers of the modern, data-driven half-world in which bogus fact-mongers on public sector pensions like to flash their digitalia as a badge of status. By contrast, Humboldt simply smiled at criticism, moved on and invented modern science.

A poet in Paradise - soon to be destroyed by windfarms

An article about a very interesting man, the local historian of Campbeltown. He made one area of Scotland interesting for all by his descriptive books. Now it is about to be destroyed in the name of political advancement for pseudo-“green” free-loaders in Holyrood, most of whom seem so stupid they do not understand what they are destroying. But their poisonous breath is polluting the whole of Kintyre, where once the mossy saxifrage blossomed…

Hands off the Mull of Kintyre! NO MORE WINDMILLS
